FAQ

Piano Lessons FAQ

Where do you teach piano?
Piano lessons are in Avalon, Sydney's Northern Beaches. For Maria Regina Avalon Students I teach at the school during lunchtime.
Will you come to our place to give piano lessons?
No.
Do you offer group piano lessons?
No. Everyone learns at their own pace. In one on one piano lessons, I am able to teach according to the individual.
Can I have piano lessons with my child?
I have tried this on request in the past, and quickly realised that it is not an ideal approach. Separate lessons allow parent and child to learn at their own pace.
Can I get a Gift Certificate for piano lessons?
At this time I'm not offering Gift Certificates.
If you can't fit me in at this time, can I go on a waiting list?
Currently my waitlist for before and after school hours is quite long. I may need to refer you to another teacher depending on your availability.
If my child has piano lessons with you at school, can I come to the lessons?
Yes. I always try to encourage parent's of younger children to attend lessons, but all parent's are welcome in lessons both at my home, and at the schools.
Will my child miss class time if they have piano lessons with you at school?
Yes, however lessons only overlap five minutes of class time. The majority of all piano lessons are during lunch time.
What paths can I take after learning the basics of piano?
As students advance and have a strong base of musical knowledge and reading they are encouraged to choose their own path. Some of these options include:
  • AMEB exams (Usually 'Piano For Leisure' Syllabus)
  • Continuing with method books (Some children like to progress through the levels)
  • Playing music from movies such as Disney, Star Wars, Mamma Mia etc
  • Playing pop music (whatever they are inspired by, depending on level of difficulty)
  • Playing anything that makes them happy!
